Our production crew came from Scotland, Massachusetts, Connecticut, North Carolina and New York. The post-production team are from New York, North Carolina and Texas. Thank you to everyone who brought their expertise and dedication to help bring Voices Over the Water to the screen.

Sebastian Neville
Sebastian NevilleCinematography (U.S.A.)

Sebastian has always had a passion for storytelling and cinematography. His professional education started at architecture school, followed by film schools in Buenos Aires and California, however, he states that his best schooling came later, working full-time for the network, Artear Television. He has traveled to Asia, Europe, and all of the countries in South America to shoot documentaries. He moved to New York City in 1997 and then to New England, where he works as a cinematographer, camera operator, editor, director, and producer. Sebastian has shot and produced educational and corporate films for universities, non-profit organizations (Yale University, National Institutes of Health, Peabody Museum) and for large and small corporate clients (ABC, Reuters, CNN, PBS, BBC, Discovery Channel, National Geographic).

Minttu Maari Mäntynen
Minttu Maari MäntynenDirector of Photography (Scotland)

Minttu has worked in both documentary and drama for many years. She has contributed cinematography for many successful films, including the Golden Bear-winning Milk, the Silver Hugo-winning Stuck, and the Scottish BAFTA winner How to Save a Fish from Drowning. Her television credits include documentaries for STV, YLE, and BBC. She has a permanent home in Edinburgh, Scotland, but loves to travel and has worked on productions all over Europe and the United States.

Dougie Fairgrieve
Dougie FairgrieveSound Recording (Scotland)

Dougie has recorded audio for a number of productions, including feature films, documentaries, and factual programs for television (BBC, STV, Granada). Among his several credits: World Pipe Band Championships, 56up (director Michael Apted), and The Wicker Tree (director Robin Hardy).

Tony Costello is a filmmaker and an editor. His recent editing credits include Ilana Glazer Presents Comedy on Earth: NYC 2020-2021, Julie Andem’s SKAM Austin, and The Ants & The Grasshopper, a documentary about sustainable agriculture in the face of climate change. He studied film at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and earned his MFA from the University of Texas at Austin. His works have played in festivals and galleries across the United States. He resides in Austin with his wife and three daughters.

Anna Hovhanessian

Anna Hovhannessian (Co-Editor), has worked on many documentaries, including Harry and Snowman (director Ron Davis), She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry (director Mary Dore), and Bully (director Lee Hirsch) which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Her television work includes Becoming Mike Nichols (HBO) and Katie! (ABC). As an experimental filmmaker and musician, she was worked on numerous experimental video projections for performance art. Her work has been performed at the Modern Art Museum of Oxford, the New York International Fringe Festival, as well as in London, Bristol, Brighton and Paris.

Jan Klier
Jan KlierDI Colorist, Sound Designer

Jan has spent 30+ years among art and technology in multiple mediums. With an extensive portfolio of award-winning feature films, corporate and commercial content, as well as years working for technology companies, he brings a broad range of experiences with him. Jan is based in the NYC metro area and runs a boutique post finishing business along with Hannah Beaton. He doesn’t make the films, but he makes films look and sound better – one of his mottos, paraphrasing a famous advertising slogan.

Brian Keane
Brian KeaneSound Mixing

Brian is a music composer and producer for many films and TV shows including New York (director Ric Burns), Long Journey Home (with The Chieftains, Van Morrison, Elvis Costello, Sinead O’Connor), and musical work with Thomas Lennon, Bill Moyers, Henry Hampton and Sheila Nevins. He has won four Emmys for composing, has been nominated twenty times. He won a Grammy for Long Journey Home. He has composed music scores for five Oscar nominated films, and won an Oscar for his work on Blood of Yingzhou District (HBO) He is a prodigious record producer, having produced many Billboard charting records. He is also a jazz guitarist.

Jeff works as a recording engineer, digital editor, sound designer, audio mixer, and principal creative assistant to Brian Keane. Jeff has worked on hundreds of award winning films, records, and television programs during his time at Brian Keane Music. Jeff has also acted as sound designer, audio engineer, and mixing engineer for many independent films. In addition, he also works as a voiceover artist and provides narration, working on several films and receiving an Honorable mention at the Los Angeles Film Awards, and a Telly Award for his recent work on Wild Horses In Winds Of Change.

Liz Witham
Liz WithamCinematography, Sound, USA

Liz received a Masters Degree in Film and Video Production from Stanford University, and returned to her native Martha’s Vineyard to co-found Film-Truth Productions with her husband. She has directed, produced and edited films that have screened at festivals nationwide. Her film Precipice was nominated for a Student Academy Award. She co-produced and directed A Certain Kind of Beauty, which was chosen as one of two American films to premiere in a strand on Global Health chaired by President Jimmy Carter at Silverdocs. Her work has appeared on online sites including The Huffington Post, Grammys.com, Boston Globe, New England Film, AOL Health and Apple’s website. She was recently honored with the prestigious Humanitarian Service Award from the Alumni Council at Kenyon College.

Ken co-founded Film-Truth Productions with his wife in 2003. He has worked on productions for ABC, PBS, NPR, the Harvard University W.E.B. Dubois Research Institute, the Harvard University Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race and Justice, Stanford University, Stanford Business School, and for numerous other independent films. He won a People’s Voice award for his film Legacy of the Harp. His work has been profiled in publications and online sites including The Huffington Post, Grammys.com, Boston Globe, New England Film, AOL Health and Apple’s website.
